Functions of CVESD

Vocational Education and Skill Development is an important element of the nation’s education initiative. In order for Vocational Education to play its part effectively in the changing national context and for India to enjoy the fruits of the demographic dividend, there is an urgent need to redefine the critical elements of imparting vocational education and training to make them flexible, contemporary, relevant, inclusive and creative. The Government is well aware of the important role of Vocational education and has already taken a number of important initiatives in this area.

The primary functions of CVESD will include – recognition and regulation of vocational Training Institutions and Centres, Development and implementation of standards regarding Affiliation/Certification/Accreditation of various Vocational Skill Trades/Courses. And this institutional reform will lead to improvement in quality and market relevance of skill development programs lending credibility to vocational education and training encouraging greater small investment and employer participation in the skills space.

CVESD is particularly important for promoting economic development, expanding employment size and improving the quality of employment.Adoption of new training technology with close involvement of industry and other stakeholders in planning and implementation of training programs.
